Total Film Coverage ... we totally and completely cover our base film with paint - the base film is just a carrier for our paint. Our base film is never exposed to the sun and the elements
ACI’s 9 Steps to Paint Perfection
It takes nine steps to convert base film, paint and clear coat into ACI Painted Graphics. Depending on the application, we start with a Urethane, PVC or Fluoropolymer base film. We prep the base film using our proprietary process that creates a permanent chemical bond between the base film and the urethane paint. Then we coat the base film with our custom blend of premium automotive base coat paint and we do this in a highly controlled production environment
Total Film Coverage ... we totally and completely cover our base film with paint … the base film is just a carrier for our paint. Our base film is never exposed to the sun and harsh weather. This is fundamentally different from traditional vinyl graphics construction in that the base film for vinyl graphics is already colored and only accent colors are printed on the base film, leaving it exposed to the elements
Thicker is Better ... we then coat the paint with 2 mils of clear coat to give the graphic the highest gloss and maximum durability. It's the kind of gloss and durability that only comes from a premium automotive paint system
The result of our proprietary 9 step process is a super durable painted graphic that applies like a vinyl graphic. Applied on a new car, it looks like it’s been painted right on the vehicle because the gloss levels match … sounds simple, but it’s so important.
Today’s Automotive Paint Finishes … a little background
Today’s automotive paint finishes have deep, rich colors with a super glossy and extremely durable clear coat. These finishes are flawless and can literally last for two decades or more, in all kinds of conditions.
It’s the Gloss! Gloss levels are rated on a scale of 0 to 100 with 100 looking “as wet as water”. Today’s new cars have a 2 mil clear coat finish that can reach a 99 degree gloss level… even the less expensive cars have an outstanding clear coat finish.
