The conventional wisdom and direction from the manufacturers of CAD thermal transfer films has been that layering different kind of films on a single garment doesn't work. For example HotMark 70 can only be layered on Hotmark and FirstMark on FirstMark.
Well it is my pleasure to announce that those rules have been rescinded. We now have a comprehensive layering guide for EnduraTex heat transfer products and some general guidelines for venturing beyond the document.
Rule of thumb. For best results, use Polyurethane (PU) films together. The similar face film is more suitable in layers because of common stretch and rebound characteristics. This is similar to the vehicle graphics rule against applying calendared overlaminate on cast vinyl
If you must mix and match, and you have to use films requiring different temperatures, always apply the higher temperature film as the bottom layer. For instance, you can apply EnduraTex Metallics on top of HotMark 70, but not vice versa.
