Making a Difference

Over twenty years ago, the founders of SIGNWarehouse had a vision: to meet the growing demand for high quality computerized sign-making products, unflagging service, and reasonable prices. They took their combined experience of running a full-service sign shop and selling computer accounting and word processing systems and founded Grayson Business Computers, Inc. Today, the Grayson Business Computer Inc. companies, SIGNWarehouse and SignWarehouse.com, are recognized names among sign design professionals. Since then, making a profound difference in the way sign makers purchase equipment, software, and supplies has been their goal.

SIGNWarehouse’s association with the sign-making industry and entry into advertising design and construction began in the mid-60’s with the opening of a local sign shop. This shop furnished the North Texas community with neon, indoor and outdoor advertising. Employing several crane and ladder trucks, the full-service company provided sign repair and installation. A walk-in ordering desk and showroom were later added to meet customer requests for banners, magnetic car signs and temporary signage. Yet a sweeping change was about to come.

Not content with business as usual, the founders were intrigued with how computerization of repetitive tasks and procedures could streamline business operations. In 1982, Grayson Business Computers, Inc., an independent company that sold and leased computer systems to professional accounting, medical and service companies, was founded. Conveniently, the new office was located right next door to the Contempori Signs, Inc. operation.

Using knowledge from the computer field, advancements were implemented into local sign-making operations. Results were so impressive and rewarding, it was reasoned that other sign makers could benefit from the innovation of computer-driven sign cutters and design software. Thus, selling competitively priced systems into the sign-making industry stemmed from the accumulation of a working knowledge of two marketplaces – the computer industry and the sign industry.

As a result, SIGNWarehouse and SignWarehouse.com grew into a full-service sign-making source providing design software, vinyl cutters and supplies. In its endeavor to merge cutting edge products with complete customer satisfaction, SIGNWarehouse pioneered many firsts, including the industry’s first toll-free technical support service.
