Tint Tek 20/20 Automotive Window Tint Software

Window tint software tingting Tint Tek 20/20 is window tint software that allows automotive tint shops or sign shops to cut specialty window tint film for passenger vehicles from precise pre-measured templates using a personal computer and a vinyl cutter. Although there are other software products on the market for window tint cutting, Tint Tek 20/20 is the ORIGINAL and BEST.

Overview

The process is very simple. A user installs and activates the Tint Tek 20/20 software on his pc, and loads the vinyl cutter with standard window tint film just as a sign shop would open LXI sign software and load vinyl to cut a vinyl sign.  The user opens the Tint Tek 20/20 software, selects the template for the make and model of vehicle being tinted and sends the template to the vinyl cutter. The template includes all side windows and the rear window. The templates can be cut all at once or individually, or in groups depending on the user’s preference. Then the pre-cut pieces can be precisely applied to the vehicle.

Tint Tek 20/20 v7.1 includes templates for over 10,000 vehicles including some dating back to 1975. Almost all current North American passenger vehicles are included and the database is continually updated as new templates become available. Updates are generally available at least twice per month and can be downloaded directly from the Tint Tek user interface at no charge at the user’s discretion. Tint Tek has launched a mobile update project with two teams traveling across North America constantly measuring new models as they become available. Updates are now being added to the database continuously and will appear in a scrolling window in the upper right area of the graphic user interface. The license activation and database updates are the only functions in Tint Tek 20/20 that require an internet connection.

The new 7.1 version adds several exciting new features designed to increase flexibility, optimize accuracy, and give the designer and installer more creative options.

  • The templates can now be resized and/or rotated. This allows installers to adapt the template in cases where manufacturing tolerances produce a noticeable difference in window glass sizes from one vehicle to another.
  • The rotate feature means large templates can now be positioned to fit smaller plotters so users with 30” vinyl cutters can now output large files by rotating a template if necessary.
  • Clip art files can now be imported into the Tint Tek workspace for the creation of flames and other custom graphics in the film. These can add profitable upgrades to your window tint business model.
  • Hundreds of plotter drivers are now just a click away. Every major brand of vinyl cutter in pre-installed in the driver database and can be selected quickly and easily.
  • The usage monitor keeps track of how many templates have been cut. This is a useful management tool for shop owners who want to monitor use of the software and equipment.
  • The new nesting options allow the user to arrange the templates on the screen, and therefore, the sheet of film, to suit his or her needs.
  • Database updates alerts appear in the scrolling window so users can see quickly if a desired new template has been added.
  • A USB hardlock key or “dongle’ has replaced the registration process, so installing and using Tint Tek 2020 is faster and easier.

Tint Tek 2020 is the industry leading value at a price of only $1,995.00 for one year of unlimited use.  After the first year, the license and hardware key can be renewed at an annual renewal fee of $1,800.00 or $150/month.

* Most vinyl cutters do not have sufficient media handling characteristics to accurately control and cut window tint film. Proper control of window tint film requires superior media handling properties such as those engineered into the Graphtec FC7000 and Vinyl Express Q-Series plotters. The Q-Series offers the advanced media handling of the Smart Blade Landing system. The SBL system gives Q-Series vinyl cutters a better grip on the media and a more precise control of how the blade makes contact with the surface, resulting in better tracking and more precise cuts. One of the advantages of this engineering precision is the ability to control and cut very thin media, including automotive window tint film. Other brands of plotters may not offer sufficient tracking control and blade precision to satisfactorily cut window tint film. If you’re not sure whether your plotter is suitable for this business opportunity, please call us at 1-800-699-5514 and consult with a certified SIGNWarehouse equipment specialist.

Advantages of Tint Tek 20/20

The Tint Tek process has several advantages over traditional window tinting and over its imitators.  Traditional window tinting is a laborious process in which the film must be measured and cut by hand, usually by placing the film against the car window and cutting out the pattern. This process takes time to learn to do well, is time-consuming, wasteful, and poses the risk of damaging the car window or door as the film is cut.

Since Tint Tek 20/20 eliminates the need to cut film by hand, production is increased and material waste is greatly reduced. With Tint Tek 20/20, the precise templates for an entire vehicle can be cut in just 3 minutes! Tint Tek is so easy to use, anyone who can run a pc and a vinyl cutter can produce precise fits for any make or model. Finding experienced installers or training personnel to cut and install automotive window tint film consistently can be difficult and expensive. With Tint Tek 20/20 new businesses can compete with established shops.  Established tint shops can reduce operating costs, and increase productivity and profit.

Since Andy Babiek invented Tint Tek, and pioneered the use of software in cutting automotive window tint film, the Tint Tek database has grown to over 10,000 vehicles.  All of the templates are installed on the user’s hard drive, so there is no need to download templates from the internet for every tint job. Most other tint software products require users to download template online for every single job. For shops on dial up, this can be a problem.

Unlike some other products, Tint Tek does not charge a monthly access fee in addition to the purchase price. An internet connection is required for initial installation and database updates, but not required for opening and cutting the window templates.  The new scrolling updates window shows the most recently added templates and the date they were added so it’s easy to check for changes to the template library.

Unlike other companies, Tint Tek users are not restricted to using any particular brand of film. Any standard size or brand is compatible, including SignWarehouse EnduraTINT.*  The new resizing, rotate, and clip art features make fine tuning templates or adding profitable custom effects fast and easy.
Tint Tek 20/20 includes a free Flat Glass module that enables users to cut templates for residential and commercial window tinting just as quickly and perfectly as automotive window tint. Templates are square or rectangular and the corners can be rounded.

FAQ's

Q: Do I need special training?
A: Tint Tek 20/20 has a very simple user interface and makes applying window tint film fast and easy. Anyone who can use a computer and a vinyl cutter can use Tint Tek software. To make it even easier, SignWarehouse does provide a free training video with each purchase.

Q: Can I use the software with any brand of vinyl cutter?
A: Tint Tek comes with drivers for all major brands of plotters. SignWarehouse recommends the Vinyl Express Q Series cutters, which use Graphtec FC7000 drivers, and the Graphtec FC7000 series cutters.

Q: Can I use the software with my 24” or 30” vinyl cutter?
A: Yes. Tint Tek 2020 v 7.1 supports rotating the templates so that vinyl cutters smaller than 42” can now be used. For maximum versatility, the optimal plotter width will still be 42” or more so that templates for rear windows can be cut in one piece.

Q: Can I use Tint Tek with any window tint film or do I have to buy a particular  brand?
A: Tint Tek can be used with any standard size of window tint film.

Q: Do I have to download the templates every time I use the software?
A: No. Tint Tek does not require downloading each template from the internet.  The templates are already in the software and can be accessed without connecting to the internet.

Q: What kind of blades should I use?
A: Since window tint film is very thin, the lower the degree angle of the blade, the better. Most vinyl cutters are shipped with 45 degree blades, which cut too deeply for optimal performance. For best results, use Tint Tek’s specially designed window tint blade.

Q: Can I save the templates to my hard drive for future use?
A: Yes and No. The templates are downloaded to the computer’s hard drive, making a constant internet connection unnecessary. But the dongle key must be installed in a usb port in order for the software to be used. The key will expire 12 months after initial installation and registration. After the key expires, the downloaded files and software will not be usable until the software license is renewed.

Q: Do I have to pay a monthly access fee?
A: No. Unlike some other products, there is no additional monthly fee required to use the software. The $1,995.00 price covers unlimited usage for the entire first year with no additional fees. There is an annual renewal fee of $1,800 or $150/month.  (Some tint software companies require a monthly access fee of $90.00 or more in addition to the initial purchase price.)

Q: Do I have to pay the annual renewal fee?
A: Yes. After the first year, the software will not be usable until the license is renewed.

Q: How do I get updates for new vehicles?
A:  Just open the software, connect to the internet, and select the Update Database function. New templates will be downloaded and installed. Updates are available continuously and appear in a scrolling window with the date added so users don’t have to use the download function to see what’s new.

Q: Does the software come from SignWarehouse?
A: Yes. The Tint Tek software will be shipped from SignWarehouse along with the vinyl cutters, training video’s and supplies.

Q: What are the system requirements?
A: Tint Tek 20/20 is compatible with Windows Operating systems from Win 98 through Vista. It requires a Pentium II processor or higher, 128 MB of RAM, 40 MB of Hard drive space, and Internet Explorer 4.0 or above.

Q: Is it Mac compatible.
A: Unfortunately, there is not a Mac version of Tint Tek 2020 available, but it can be run on a Macintosh computer using a Windows simulator.

Q: Can I lease it?
A: Yes! The Vinyl Express Tint Tek packages can be leased for as little as $165.00/month **.  That’s less than the average price of one tint job on a sedan!
